Georges St-Pierre recently appeared on The MMA Hour to discuss his UFC status. The former UFC welterweight champ explined that his UFC contract is a little different from other fighters.
St-Pierre has some big sponsors who pay him big bucks to wear their logos to the octagon, but the UFC’s current Reebok deal might conflict with that. GSP explained in the interview that the specifics of his contract are different from other fighters’ deals.
“Look, I don’t know the Reebok deal,” he said. “My contract is different. I’m lucky, I have a great team of management behind me. I cannot comment on that because of sponsor issues and things like that. My contract is different than most people.”
“It could stop maybe UFC from having me come back,” he concluded.
St-Pierre, who is currently at a training camp to prepare for a potential UFC return, has sponsors including Under Armour, Hayabusa MMA, and Affliction.
Pierre was last seen in the Octagon back at UFC 167 against Johny Hendricks. During his time off, he worked on the upcoming film Kickboxer: Vengeance.
